Join us on the pool deck of the Hilton Gulf Front on Monday 25 April, from 6-8pm, for the opening reception. Appetizers and drinks will be served while you meet new friends or reconnect with old ones, all with the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico in the background. EPA Lab Tour
The Environmental Protection Agency Gulf Ecology Division tour is a walking tour of Sabine Island that will take participants through our boat areas, wet lab, marine chemistry lab, and our newest building, the "green" computational science lab (which was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver certification for its energy-saving and environmentally friendly features). Tour leaders will discuss the rich history of Sabine Island as well as the Gulf Ecology Division's mission and research activities. Gulf Ecology Division research includes ecological research providing information and methods to assess the benefits of ecosystem services to human well-being at ecosystem, regional, and national scales; ecotoxicological research providing approaches to predict physiological and demographic responses of aquatic and wildlife species to chemical stressors; and water quality research to quantify and model ecological responses to water quality in marine ecosystems, with emphasis on the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean watersheds.
The trolley will depart from the Hilton at 3:15pm on 28 April and return at approximately 4:30pm. Please bring a government-issued photo ID.
The tour is full.
Tour cost is $10 per person.
